Carsluith Castle is a small 16th century tower house freely visible from the main road on the seashore between the mouths of the Water of Fleet and River Cree.

It has been suggested that the tower house that stands today was of two main phases, but this does not seem likely, and instead it can easily be seen as a modest tower house of the 1560s as is suggested by the datestone. Originally church property, Carsluith had been granted by the provost of Lincluden Abbey to his nephew in 1422, and it passed with marriage to the Lindsays and then to Richard Broun of New Abbey. From 1536 the property was then held by the Broun family until 1748, when the last of the Brouns sold up and emigrated to India. The property was extended and formed the central house of a farmstead, although the added wings and original barmkin have been lost.
